Spider Online were chosen by Tesco Bank to deliver mobile responsive, SEO-friendly main careers and Early Careers websites.

Our technical and creative design teams worked closely with global ATS provider Taleo (Oracle) to integrate their applicant tracking system (ATS) into the websites, and with Tesco Bank’s internal brand manager, technical team, third party social media experts and recruitment agency.


The finance sector is incredibly competitive and with the majority of job seekers using mobile to search for jobs, both Drupal websites had to be mobile responsive, user friendly and fully integrated recruitment platforms. Our technical experts researched the application process and strategically planned out the user experience (UX) ensuring both websites were intuitive for job seekers and candidates at every stage of their engagement with the brand. Tesco Bank has a proven track record in being very proactive in bringing graduates into the business, as well as developing apprenticeships, internships and placements. It was key that equal weight was given to all vacancies and within both websites.


The creative brief was for Tesco Bank to demonstrate itself as a challenger bank competing against the big established players. In addition to this, both websites were built to fit within the Tesco Group guidelines and to reflect and reinforce both Tesco Bank’s brand as well as Tesco’s in order for visitors to recognise they were part of the same family. Strong imagery and key messages were developed to engage with the various target audiences. This was incorporated into the copywriting and in the way the website flows, taking job-seekers smoothly from one step of the recruitment process to the next, and finally, securing good candidates with a position which will further develop their career.


Both websites were launched within four weeks of each other and were supported by a UK wide offline and online marketing and social media campaign. From winning the pitch to completion of the project Spider Online demonstrated extensive technical knowledge, excellent communication and strategic planning skills, highlighting their ability to manage projects smoothly whilst working with multiple third parties and delivering to tight deadlines.
