Twitter’s growth these days seems to be coming from outside of the United States. ComScore data shows a 6.7 percent jump from August to September in worldwide visitors to 58.4 million (which translates to 949 percent increase from a year ago). The 20.9 million visitors from the US, in contrast, have remained flat since July.

It’s all well and good developing a fantastic new app then publishing for Android and Apple iOS platforms but then what? With the respective app stores growing exponentially it’s easy to upload your app then see it get lost in the myriad of available apps never to be seen again. Earlier this week, at the launch of the new iPad Mini, Tim Cook was boasting that the iPad alone had some 275,000 dedicated apps available and this excludes the several hundred thousand apps dedicated to iPhone and various Android devices!

We were asked recently by one of our clients whether or not they should be considering the development of mobile applications for BlackBerry and Windows platforms in 2013. Given the recent spate of launches on both platforms, this is certainly an interesting and very timely question.

Here I was getting away from it all by going on a sailing trip with my two good friends Giles and Roger up the west coast of Scotland and I get someone telling me about this great website and mobile site. I suppose making a living in the digital world attracts people to you with everything technology. From "my printers not working, can you fix it" to "can you change the language back from Spanish to English on my mobile", you always get approached. However this time it was quite interesting.

Many years ago, I had a hope that Internet technologies would provide the solution for delivering software across all Desktop platforms – Mac, Windows, Linux/Unix etc - without having to support multiple development environments or compromising on the design. The arrival of powerful javascript libraries such as jQuery helped to support this notion. You didn't even have to go around and install the software on all those PCs and updates became so much quicker and simpler.
Just because you have a website, doesn’t mean you have a mobile website. Mobile web can be very different to the original web as they differ in certain functionality. This leads to the question; do you need a mobile website? The short answer to this is probably yes, with the way the mobile market is growing, every company should have a mobile website.
